After 79 years, Peats finally bows to retail pressures – Independent.ie

The family-owned business, which has remained in the Peat family since it was established in 1934, has buckled under the weight of online competition and a tough retail environment.

Despite having undergone a massive overhaul last year, which saw the business close all but one of its outlets and retain an online presence, Peats was unable to continue as a viable operation.
