Emergency call out to Dalkey on Sunday. Faulty immersion switch (time switch)

Got a call out from an elderly couple on Sunday. She was celebrating her  94th birthday. The time clock on the immersion had gone faulty and they had no hot water. Had the problem sorted out in a few minutes and they were very happy.

Busy day in Sallynoggin, RCD tripping out

Got a call from a customer in Sallynoggin yesterday, the RCD kept tripping out. Mice had eaten through a cable. I had to replace the cable, I also used steel wool and cement to try and keep the mice out.

RCD’s protect lives

Every home should have an RCD (rcbo, elcb) protecting sockets, immersion, shower etc. In the event of a person getting an electric shock the RCD will trip out the electricity, thereby protecting the person from serious injury or death. Emergency call out to Dalkey on Saturday eveningt

A customer had no sockets working in his home on Saturday evening. Called over and sorted out the problem. Customer was delighted with the quick response. The RCD had tripped out due to a faulty tumbler dryer.

Burning in switch in Blackrock

Got a call out to a house in Blackrock on Friday. The customer got a smell of burning from a dimmer switch. On investigation I found wood behind the switch starting to burn. This could have caused a fire in the home.  I installed the proper box behind the switch and used a new switch.
